Details

This site is in the granite gorge below the Sequoia National Park headquarters. The popular site features launching points from up to 70 feet. The water is very deep, maybe 30 to 40 feet. Late summer water is warm, above 70 degrees when the river has dropped to low water safe levels after the runoff is over. The summer weather is typically hot, 95 degrees in the summer. The granite is super smooth and super slick. It's a easy quarter mile trail to the river.

From Highway 99 in California Exit Highway 99 on Highway 198 East bound toward Visalia, California Go 40 miles on Highway 198 through Visalia California all the way to Sequoia National Park Pay the park entrance fee at the gate Continue 3/4 mile to a parking turnout on the right. Park here. This is 1/4 mile before you get to the Visitor Center at Ash Mountain Park headquarters. Additional parking is available in the lot 1/4 mile further east. Follow a trail that lies on the west side of the fenced in park headquarters compound. It's about a quarter mile and 100 vertical feet elevation loss to the river.
