Details

This is probably one of the best jump sites on Deep Creek in terms of accessibility versus great jumps and water. It was actually featured in National Geographic magazine in 2003. The main jump is 35 feet, with a pyramid rock that tops out at around 50 feet or so. From San Bernardino take Waterman Ave/Hwy 18 north into the San Bernardino mountains. Turn left (north) on Hwy 173. Turn right on Hooks Creek Rd. near the town of Cedar Glen. Follow this road downhill as it turns to dirt. “Stay right at a sign that says Splinters cabin trailhead 1/4 mile”. You’ll need an Adventure Pass to park here. Make your way on the trail to a steel footbridge. Do not cross the bridge. Instead continue hiking north on the PCT for about ten minutes or so until you see a distinct trail heading straight downhill to the creek on your right. If you reach a point where the creek takes a sharp bend to the right at a head wall while the trail goes straight, you went too far. Follow this route down to the jump site, or take a right at the jump rocks and cross the pool above to get to the sunning rocks and smaller jumps on the opposite side of the cliffs.
