Details
Jump is about 40 ft off of a steep, near vertical cliff.
This jump is in the Adirondack park off a public hiking trail.
The jump is just off the trail that runs along the hiking trail on the cliffs on the North side of Rock Pond.
To get there. Take exit 28 off of Rt. 87 (The Northway). Take Route 74 East toward Ticonderoga about 8 miles. Then go South on Route 39 about 7 miles to the Putnam Pond Campground.
Park in the campground and take the path that runs to the North through the campground. Pick up the hiking trail that runs along the North edge of Putnam pond. Follow the trail toward Rock Pond.
The jump is into Rock Pond.
There is a cool abandoned mine site on the East end of Rock pond. Go past the mine site, and follow the trail along the North shore of Rock Pond. The trail goes high up the hillside, but you can access the cliffs by going about 20 yards South from the trail. Best jumpsite is about 1/3 of the way from the East end of Rock Pond toward the West.
After you jump you will have to swim to the East end of the Rock pond to get out. You get out right in front of the old mine shaft.
