From Seattle you need to take I-90 east for about 150 miles until you get to exit 151. There is a strange little intersection but you need to end up on WA283 toward Ephrata/Soap Lake. Follow this road for 15 miles. WA283 becomes WA28. Go about another 11 miles and turn left on WA17. Go north another 17 miles and the entrance for Sun Lakes State Park will be on your right. Wind your way down into the park and follow the signs that point to Deep Lake. It's a couple of miles past the main camping areas. Once you arrive at the parking lot your going to want to take the trail down the left side of the lake, the trail will lead you to the smallest cliffs first and then they will gradually get bigger as you go. The basalt rock makes for very uneven footing and there are some underwater ledges that you need to clear. Most of the cliffs are great for seasoned jumpers but only a few for beginners. I took my 58 year old mother with me and she jumped her first cliff ever!! So with good judgment and some creative line selection there are cliffs from 5 feet all the way up to instant death. Of the 20 or so times i've been there only twice was it closed so the divers could fish out a body! The park rangers can smell alcohol a mile away and are not afraid to write large tickets. If you are drinking Deep Lake is not the place you should be. Be safe and enjoy!
