Matt has acknowledged that this photo sucks and will submit way better ones this summer!! Thanks Matt!
The approach to the pool is made from the A863, heading towards Glen Brittle from Sligachan, where there is an excellent pub. Following the signs to Glen Brittle, take the B8009. The road passes through some forested area, and as it breaks out and begins to descend, the car park is on your right. If necessary, adorn adequate midge protection before venturing across the road to the winding path that sinks into the Coire and snakes alongside the meandering rivers edge.
Follow the well-engineered path, backtracking the river up stream for around a mile or so. The path turns right into the Coire, revealing a section of the impressive Cuillin ridge before you. As the path crosses several minor tributaries to the river Brittle on North side, the river opens out into a deeper gorge. For any outdoor swimmer, this should set your mind racing to the possibility of elevation above the water, perfect jumping territory. Angel pools will appear from the otherwise less impressive watercourse as a deep, gaping pit fed by the cascading mountain water that passes between two boulders, which would outsize most family cars.
Several jumps by 5 different people never managed to reach the bottom, the pool is easily deep enough!
