Ausable in Wilmington NY: Take NYS87 to exit 30 Lake Placid / Keene Exit. Take RT 73 until you reach 9N for Upper Jay (not either 9N for Elizabethtown) (past a small town with a stewarts on the left) Bear right on 9N untill you reach RT86 ( in or near Upper Jay) Go left on 86 until you reach Wilmington where Rt86 takes a left turn after a bridge over the Ausable. Take his left, go past the stores etc until you reach the bridge. Parking is on the right by the bridge or just before on the left (better). The river is on your left.
This location has 2 Jumping spots. One is across the stream from the road side, directly next to the waterfall. The other is on the road side and is ONLY the first 10 feet of the cliffs there. Ask locals – other spots along the road side have submerged rocks… You may see if any of the locals can show you a 3rd spot further up the stream from the waterfall, in the chasm, well before the bridge. We jumped there.
